What a beautiful day photographing this Mendocino forest engagement shoot in the rain. Gwen and Dakota are such a sweet couple and both artists. Gwen is a beautiful dancer and actress. Dakota is an actor. I think this rainy day engagement shoot was perfect for them. It’s something a little more dramatic and out of the ordinary so their engagement shoot in the Mendocino forest on a rainy day was stellar. Gwen wasn’t afraid of getting wet! I just held an extra umbrella over me since I didn’t have an assistant with me. It was a challenge but so fun. I’d do this again and again because I love the rain.
Mendocino Forest Engagement Shoot in Rain
Photo Shoots don’t always have to be on perfect sunny days. A cloudy day for a photographer is like a soft box in the sky. As a photographer cloudy days are great and I don’t have to worry about getting those dark circles under the eyes from the sun. I am also able to shoot in any direction! Different elements with the weather make for some amazing photographs. I once did an engagement shoot during the big fires which of course were not close by. The sky was turned into a crazy orange haze and it made for some amazing unusual shots.
I am so excited to shoot their wedding in June! Their wedding site is at the Nelson Family Vineyards in Ukiah. The wedding will be in a redwood grove too! It is such an amazing fairy tale place and perfect for weddings.
Gwen was a dancer with my daughter so I shot all her dance photos every year at Lakeport Dance Center. I will share a favorite image here of her dancing too. I love when the dancers choose me to photograph their weddings.
